Moving can be a stressful and overwhelming experience

Especially when it comes to packing up your kitchen. The dishes, glasses, and other fragile items need to be carefully wrapped to prevent any damage during transportation. In this guide, we’ll take you through the steps on how to wrap dishes for moving, so you can be sure that your kitchen items arrive at your new home in one piece.

Gather Supplies

Before you start wrapping your dishes, make sure you have all the necessary supplies. You will need:

Clean Dishes

Start Wrapping

Begin by placing a sheet of packing paper or bubble wrap on a flat surface. Take one plate and place it in the center of the paper. Fold one corner of the paper over the plate, tucking it under the plate to secure it in place. Then, fold the opposite corner over the plate and tuck it under as well. Repeat with the remaining two corners until the plate is completely covered. Secure the paper with packing tape.

Add Layers

For extra protection, you can wrap each plate in an additional layer of packing paper or bubble wrap. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until all plates are wrapped.

Wrap Bowls and Cups

For bowls and cups, start by crumpling up a sheet of packing paper or bubble wrap and placing it in the bottom of the bowl or cup. Then, wrap the bowl or cup in packing paper or bubble wrap, tucking the edges in to secure it in place. For handles, use extra packing paper or bubble wrap to cover them. Secure the paper with packing tape.

Use Dividers

Place dividers in the bottom of the cardboard box. This will keep your dishes separated and prevent them from moving around during transportation. Place the wrapped dishes in the box, making sure to fill any empty spaces with crumpled packing paper or bubble wrap to prevent movement.

Seal Box

Once the box is filled, tape it shut using packing tape. Label the box with its contents and indicate that it contains fragile items.

Repeat for Other Items

Repeat these steps for any other fragile kitchen items, such as glasses or serving dishes.

By following these steps, you can be sure that your dishes and other fragile kitchen items are properly wrapped and protected during transportation. Moving can be a daunting task, but with a little bit of preparation and care, you can ensure that your belongings arrive at your new home safely and in one piece.
